Wednesday, August 12, 2020 The Nugget Newspaper, Sisters, Oregon 13 Obituaries Deborah Joan Donnelly Kollodge James William Morgan August 18, 1951 — July 25, 2020 September 4, 1928 – August 2, 2020 Deborah Joan Donnelly Kollodge was born August 18, 1951 in Arlington, Massachusetts. She passed away July 25, 2020 at her home in Lincoln City at the age of 68 from cancer. Deb was fourth in line in an Irish family of seven children 4 she had many entertaining childhood sto- ries from there, as one can imagine! In her teen years she got a job working as a switchboard operator for <Ma Bell= telephone com- pany. After she met and mar- ried the love of her life, Jerry Kollodge, they made a move to Boulder, Colorado. There Deb took computer-related courses and accepted a posi- tion as a software support and implementation specialist with Small System Design. Many ski trips and hunt- ing adventures were experi- enced in the beautiful Rocky Mountains throughout their time in Boulder. She gained three stepchildren, and later was <Grandma Deb= to five. Deb and Jerry moved to Sisters in 1993. She loved the great outdoors and nature. They took sev- eral cross country trips in their RV visiting family, friends and attending sport shows to showcase Jerry9s personally designed fish- ing rods. Deb was very active in the community of Sisters. She served on the City Council, and her time as acting Mayor was also a big feather in her cap. Many hours were dedicated to vol- unteering at the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce, and working with the Community Action Team of Sisters (CATS). Deb even rode along in the city garbage truck pick-up routes to figure out a more logical and effi- cient system. When city street lamps were needed, Deb wrote grants and got it done. She received the award of Citizen of the Year, volun- teered in the school9s com- puter lab, and helped to fun- draise for the Village Green playground. After Jerry passed away, Deb volunteered as a Parks Camp Host for a couple seasons. In 2011 Deb and her sister, Maureen, moved to Lincoln City. Deborah quickly became involved in her new community. She was a <volunteer extraordinaire= at the Cultural Center, pro- vided tax assistance for peo- ple at the Community Center, Senior Health Insurance Benefits Assistance Program advisor, was an officer 4 <Madame Treasurer= 4 at the Eagles Lodge, wrote the newsletter for the Walking Group, and along with Maureen started a Mahjong group. Deb was sure to make time for family gatherings, playing games, fun trips and cruises 3 all of which she enjoyed immensely. Deborah had a big heart and generous spirit, and she helped many people in various ways. Deb was fun-loving and funny 4 all loved hear- ing her joyful laugh. She was definitely not one to com- plain. And as we all know 4 she was wicked smart! We have all learned a lot from Deb. She will be missed and loved forever. Deborah is survived by her stepchildren Kristine (Philippe) Rerat, Patrick Kollodge, Bill (Mutsuko) Kollodge; grandchildren Rosita, Claire, Mack, Lily, Sage; and sisters Maureen Gallant and Catherine Daniels, brother Terrance Donnelly, as well as several nieces and nephews. Deborah was preceded in death by her mother Frances, father John, husband Jerry, and siblings Maryellen, John Jr., and Stephen. A burial service was held at the Camp Polk Cemetery. Hospice care was given in Lincoln City by Samaritan Evergreen Hospice. Memorial contributions may be given to Samaritan Evergreen Hospice, PO Box 945, Newport, OR 97365. James William Morgan, 91, of Sisters passed away August 2, 2020. Jim was born to Walter and Floy (Souden) Morgan in Mill City, September 4, 1928. He attended elementary school in Silverton, graduating from high school in Corvallis in 1946. He enlisted in the Army following his gradua- tion and served as a part of the Army Occupation Forces in Japan during WWII. After Jim9s discharge from the Army, he worked on a number of farms and dairies in the Corvallis area. He married Madge Schreiber with whom he raised four children. He was employed by the Oregon Department of Agriculture for 12 years as a dairy sanitarian in Salem, North Bend, Bend and Albany. He left this position to attend Multnomah School of education in 1975. He was employed by Oregon State Accident Insurance Fund, retiring as vice-pres- ident and director of insur- ance support in 1987. He moved to the Sisters area in 1990, continuing to be active in church minis- tries in both the Baptist and the Community Church in Sisters. He served for 15 years as a part of the rotat- ing pastoral team at The Chapel in the Pines in Camp Sherman. Following the death of his wife Madge in 2000, he married Karen Manbeck of the Sisters area. They have lived in the Buck Run area of Sisters since that time. Survivors include his wife, Karen Morgan, Sisters; children: James, Jr. <Bill= (Colin) Morgan, Ashland; Robin (Penny) Morgan, Dallas; Wendy (Rockie) Boxall, Keizer; and Kathy Carey, Salem; along with eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Private military grave- side services were held at Deschutes Memorial Gardens, Bend. A public cel- ebration of Jim9s life will be held on Saturday, September 19, at 1 p.m., at Sisters Community Church, 1300 McKenzie Hwy., Sisters.
